The Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia "KSA" Enjoys A Distinctive Strategic Location In The Arabian Peninsula in the far southwest of Asia. Saudi Arabia Covers About 2150000 Square Km, About Two-Thirds Of The Arabian Peninsula, and is confined between the Arabian Gulf to the east, and the Gulf of Aqaba and the Red Sea to the west. As A Result Of This Distinctive Location And Vast Area, KSA Has Three Seafronts And Its Coastline Is Approximately 3400 Km, One Is On The Red Sea And The Other Two On The Arabian Gulf. The Gulf Of Aqaba And The Red Sea To Its West With A Coastline Of About 2400 Km.
The Kingdom Ranks First Among The Countries Bordering The Red Sea In Terms Of The Length Of Its Coastline And It represents about 80% Of Its Length. Southwest Asia Is Separated From Northeast Africa By It, And Which Is Considered The Main Arm Of The Indian Ocean By Linking It And The Arabian Sea In The South With The Mediterranean Sea To The North.
The Arabian Gulf Is Located In Southwest Asia Which Is The Eastern Border Of The Arabian Peninsula, In The Form Of An Arm That Generally Extends From The Southeast, Where The Hormuz Strait Is Located, To The Northwest, Where The Shatt Al-Arab Estuary Is. The Arabian Gulf Is Linked To The Oman Sea, Which Lies To The East, Via The Hormuz Strait, And Which Is The Link Between The Arabian Gulf And Oman Sea. And Considered The Main Artery For International Trade Due To Its Strategic Location After The Discovery Of Oil In It And In The Surrounding Areas. The Gulf Region Has Become The Main Reservoir Of Oil In The World, As About A Third Of The World's Oil Production Passes Through The Arabian Gulf.

Royal Saudi Naval Forces
Based Upon The Above, The Saudi Government Established A Naval Force Whose Mission Is To Defend And Secure The Kingdom’s Lands, Coastlines And Territorial Seas. The Royal Saudi Naval Forces Was Established Between 1376H And 1377H [1957], At That Time It Was Known As ‘the Navy.’ In 1380H [1960], ‘Riyadh,’ Joined The Naval Forces Service To Become The First Naval Vessel Owned By The Naval Forces. Through Subsequent Significant Expansions The Kingdom Managed To Achieve Immense Reinforcements, Thus Making A Quantum Leap In Delivering Its Military And Naval Mission.
The Naval Forces Owns Two Important Fleets, The Eastern Fleet On The Arabian Gulf, And The Western Fleet On The Red Sea. Each Of Which Possesses Full Military Capabilities Represented By Battleship Units, Support Ship Units, Administrative And Technical Support, Naval Aviation Groups, Marines And Special Naval Security Units.
The RSNF Understands The Importance Of Education, Training And Qualifications Of The Personnel, Hence The Establishment Of The King Fahad Naval Academy, Technical Institute Naval Studies, The Naval Forces Schools, And The Marine Corps School, In Addition To Naval Training Centers And Simulators.
Since Its Foundation, The RSNF Has Pledged To Carry Out Its Tasks And Duties By Defending The Kingdom And Participating In International Naval Alliances To Provide Peace And Security In The Region.
