A seasoned industry expert with more than 19 years of leadership experience, Mr. Omar Hariri serves as the President of the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani).
Mr. Hariri was appointed as President of Mawani in July 2021, where he leverages his deep knowledge of the region’s transport and logistics sector to oversee the development and implementation of the Authority’s strategy for the growth of the Saudi maritime and ports ecosystem. His visionary stewardship is central to Mawani’s ongoing transformation of the sector as it strives to strengthen the Kingdom’s position as a leading global logistics hub connecting three major continents: Asia, Europe, and Africa.
Prior to joining Mawani, Mr. Hariri served as CEO of Saudia Cargo and Saudi Logistics Services (SAL). He successfully steered both companies through an ambitious program of modernization, leading the development of infrastructure and overhaul of systems in line with the highest international standards. Mr. Hariri also played a key role in both organizations’ efforts to attract and retain national cadres, with localization rates increasing to 95% during his tenure.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Hariri held several senior leadership positions in leading global companies, including Managing Director at the Saudi subsidiary of FedEx Express, Vice President of Commercial at DHL Express Saudi Arabia, and General Manager at DHL Express Kuwait. Mr. Hariri spent more than 12 years with DHL Express, starting in 2004 as a Manager in Dammam before progressing as Director of major accounts, a Sales Manager in the Eastern Province, and Director of National Sales. He has also served as a member of the IATA Cargo Advisory Council, Chairman of the Executive Board at SkyTeam Cargo Alliance, and Board Member at Saudi Ground Services Company (SGS).
Mr. Hariri holds a Master of Science Degree in Procurement, Logistics and Supply Chain Management from the University of Salford in the United Kingdom, and has successfully completed the Balanced Scorecard Certification Program at the George Washington University, United States.
